Staff positions are classified as "exempt" or "non-exempt" based on guidance provided by federal regulations. 

Exempt:

1. Always supervisory or above.
2. Can be senior or lead person for a program or service.
3. No overtime.

Non-exempt:

1. Overtime over 40 hours in a single work week.
2. Non-supervisory position.
